A Voice For Change

As the election of 2005 approaches, it is time to let your voice be heard. It is well known that if you run against any incumbent or appointee, you will have to pay the price. Just remember, they cannot keep you from working unless you allow them to! Soon we will be able to provide you with a copy of a court order that gives you the right to monitor the referral list. We understand your fears of reprisal because of family obligations so if you cannot step forward publicly to voice your opinion and fight for change, we will be your voice! With your support and the power of your vote , we can make a difference!

There is a large group of members, not just in this district, but statewide, who have reached their limit of toleration with how our Local, Districts, Health & Welfare, and Apprenticeship are run. We want accountability! We would like to include you in this group! You will be amazed and angry when you learn of the many things that are swept under the carpet and kept from the members. You will be appalled with the details of how your money is spent! Some of those currently holding office believe it their right to do so. We believe serving the members of Local 18 is a privilege and we ask for the opportunity to serve you!

In order to begin an investigation we plan to supply facts and documents to the Trustees of all Funds and the Department of Labor. We believe the Trustees will be interested to find out what has been getting past them and join our efforts to make positive changes for Local 18 members.

Our group, “Local 18 Members Voice” intends to endorse some current officers, Executive Board members, and Advisory Board members. If you currently hold any of those positions and you would like to see change, but can't do it alone, please contact us. It will be held in the strictest of confidence unless we have your permission to add you to our endorsements. We would like to see the largest number of names on the ballot (for all positions) that Local 18 has ever seen! We will gladly nominate and support you if you share our views! Even if you do not want to run for a position, we still need your help! We are preparing a list of issues we will address and we welcome your comments and suggestions.

Our web page, www.local18membersvoice.com is in the development stage so please check back often. We will soon be posting who we are and our goals. We are looking forward to an election with the highest number of voters this Local has ever seen! Make your voice heard……VOTE!
